About

As a producer, writer and editor, Bill Howard has played a pioneering role the in the nonfiction storytelling space. His early producing and development credits included some of the very first HDTV programs and mini-series for Discovery Channel and History Channel. Filming on location across five continents, Bill developed and produced Defcon 2 with Tom Clancy, and Seized at Sea: Situation Critical for Discovery Channel, An Inside Look series for Discovery HD Theater, and the original Gold! Series for History Channel.

 

Bill’s producing achievements subsequently led to serving as Executive Producer at Discovery where his credits included popular series Storm Chasers, Survivorman, When We Left Earth, Everest Beyond the Limit and Man Woman Wild among many others. He also oversaw original programming for Discovery's emerging networks and played a key role in the launch of the Military Channel.

 

Bill subsequently joined Scripps Networks where he led a team of content creators, developing primetime series and specials, tentpole events and partnerships. In this role, Bill developed and executive-produced original series including the Stanley Tucci-narrated series Metropolis, Todd Carmichael-led adventure series Dangerous Grounds, and Airport 24/7 for Travel Channel, and partnered with the New York Times to co-develop the Kristen Kish-hosted series 36 Hours, based on the popular New York Times column. In addition, Bill partnered with Diageo on the international competition, World’s Best Bartender hosted by Don Wildman, and developed and executive produced Travel Channel’s annual tentpole event The Trip featuring Bert Kreischer, Samantha Brown and Adam Richman .

As an independent producer, Bill co-produced and developed unscripted series and specials in partnership with Europa and Jupiter/Sky Vision, and served as a panelist at DOC NYC in 2017. He also consulted to Discovery on current series, and executive produced live events including Gold Rush Live, Border Live, and Deadliest Catch: The Bait Live.

With a wealth of experience working alongside some of the top talent in the business, Bill currently serves as executive producer at Warner Brothers Discovery where he oversees many global hit series and creates new pilots and series for WBD's streaming and linear platforms. He was nominated for a 2019 Emmy Award for Outstanding Unstructured Reality Program for his work as executive producer on Deadliest Catch
